She survived a death camp. Facing Biden DOJ charges, she is prepared to die in prison

(The Daily Signal) — Eva Edl turned 10 years old in a World War II-era death camp.

She believes she may die in a United States prison.

Charged by President Joe Biden’s Justice Department with violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, Edl faces up to 11 years in prison and $350,000 fines. She is about to turn 89 years old.

“When I was indicted, I began to prepare to die there,” she said thoughtfully in a phone interview with The Daily Signal. “Right now, I am ambivalent. … I’m doing the best I can to get ready. Haven’t talked to a funeral director yet.”

“I’m just being sensible,” she added. “There’s no guarantee that I survive it.”

Drawing on her brutal experiences with communism in what was then Yugoslavia, she refuses to underestimate those who have the power to oppress her, recalling how her mother couldn’t believe they were in danger until it was too late.

Peaceful ‘rescuers’ seeking to stop abortions found guilty by jury, face up to 11 years in prison

(Breitbart) — Six pro-life activists were found guilty on Tuesday for “conspiracy against rights” and violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) in relation to a peaceful protest outside of a Tennessee abortion facility in 2021.

President Joe Biden’s pro-abortion administration announced in October 2022 that it had charged 11 activists involved in the March 5, 2021, “blockade” of the Carafem Health Center Clinic in Mount Juliet. Attorneys for the activists said they were conducting a “rescue” and had gathered on the second floor of the office building where the clinic is located to pray, sing hymns, and urge women not to go through with abortions. The peaceful protest was also live-streamed on Facebook, according to the Catholic News Agency (CNA).

Six of the activists have now been found guilty of a misdemeanor FACE Act charge, as well as a felony conspiracy against rights charge, which carries with it the possibility of up to 11 years in prison and fines up to $250,000. They include: Chester Gallagher, 73, of Lebanon, Tennessee; Heather Idoni, 58, of Michigan; Calvin Zastrow, 57, of Michigan; Coleman Boyd, 51, of Bolton, Mississippi; Dennis Green, 56, of Cumberland, Virginia; and Paul Vaughn, 55, of Centerville, Tennessee.

Peaceful ‘rescuers’ seeking to stop abortions face federal prosecution, may receive up to 11 years in prison

Jury selection is set to commence this week in Nashville, Tennessee for six individuals in relationship to a “rescue” they took part in inside an abortion facility in Tennessee as they sought to save babies from being murdered at the hands of an abortionist. Some of the individuals charged in the federal case are potentially facing up to 11 years in federal prison.

On March 5, 2021, a group of “rescuers” entered the Carafem Health Center in Mount Juliet, Tennessee to dissuade women from going through with their scheduled abortions.

Originally, a total of 11 people were indicted. However, one of the defendants had their charges dropped and is expected to provide testimony against the remaining individuals. Out of the six facing trial, the possibility of them being sentenced to up to 11 years in prison looms, while the remaining four may be facing a maximum of one year behind bars.

Former rescuer avoids jail by agreeing to indefinitely provide Biden admin with info on pro-lifers

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) – A former pro-life rescuer has signed an agreement with the federal government that requires her to fully cooperate with the pro-abortion Biden administration whenever it calls upon her for information on pro-life operations.

The deal contains no time limit, and allows the government to resurrect FACE Act felony charges with years in prison if it deems the agreement has not been kept.

Last week 24-year-old Caroline Davis testified against 5 of her former rescue colleagues currently on trial and facing up to 11 years in jail for their role in a pro-life rescue at the Washington-Surgi Clinic on on October 22, 2020. Davis was also present at that rescue, although she has never faced charges related to that event.

But Davis was facing FACE Act charges for two other pro-life rescues in the state of Michigan. While she was not charged with violations of the FACE Act in the case being tried in Washington, D.C., the federal government sought her out to obtain testimony against her fellow rescuers in this case.

False ‘missionary’ raised $30M for Bibles—then blew it on diamonds and gambling: DOJ

(Daily Beast) — Federal authorities have launched an international manhunt for a Georgia everyman-turned-fugitive who is being sought for an alleged scheme that redirected more than $30 million from Christian charities meant to be spent on Bible distribution in China.

According to a federal indictment unsealed Tuesday, 45-year-old Jason Gerald Shenk took more than $33 million in donations from charities and individuals—money that he allegedly promised to use for producing and distributing Bibles and Christian literature—and spent it on a slew of expensive personal purchases.

Shenk allegedly spent about $1 million on diamonds and precious metals, $7 million on his family farm, $320,000 on real estate in Chile, $4 million on 16 life insurance policies, $850,000 on shares of a private U.S. nuclear company, $820,000 on credit card payments and $1 million deposited in an online sports betting site—which was subsequently shut down for fraudulent activity.

Christian radio listeners respond to Gospel amid Belarusian president’s threat of nuclear war

Belarus (Mission Network News) — Tensions heighten in the Ukraine war as Russian ally Belarus says its warplanes can now carry nukes.

On Friday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko spoke against a general threat from Western forces:

“Everything was ready (referring to modifications made to Belarusian warplanes to carry nuclear weapons). It’s not a good idea to escalate things with Belarus because that would be an escalation with the Union State (of Russia and Belarus), which has nuclear weapons. If they start to create problems … the response will be immediate.”

To calm fears, believers in Belarus spread peace-filled messaging on radio airwaves.

Gospel challenges in Liberia deep, daunting

(Christian Aid Mission) Whether facing jungle beasts or hostile followers of tribal religion, a native missionary in Liberia relies on God to protect him and other team members.

The leader of a local ministry said he and co-workers proclaim Christ in cities and towns, but sometimes their commitment to bring God’s kingdom to the unreached takes them to remote villages – walking five to seven hours daily through jungles where there are no roads.

“Sometimes we encounter mosquitoes, snakes or lions, among other animals, and we get sick,” he said. “Idol worshippers sometimes threaten us, saying that if we don’t leave their village, they will kill us. We have to contend with all of that relying on God, the author and finisher of our faith.”

Christians reach isolated Ethiopian group

Ethiopia (Mission Network News) In the mountains of Ethiopia, there lived a group of about 6,000 people unreached by the story of Jesus. They practice a local animist religion, believing that all beings have a life force and that spirits can possess people.

In a 2010 poll, 11 percent of Ethiopians said sacrifices to spirits or ancestors could protect them from harm.

A group of Christian church planters felt called to visit these people.

Christ’s hope overcomes despair in Afghanistan

Afghanistan (Mission Network News) Flash flooding sweeps across 10 provinces in 10 days in eastern Afghanistan, killing nearly 100 people and displacing thousands. It’s the latest in a series of disasters ravaging the country.

Natural disasters, like the current flooding and June’s deadly 5.9 magnitude earthquake, unite with poor governance and geopolitical challenges to test Afghanistan’s people.

The United Nations warns that without an immediate influx of funding and supplies, children in Afghanistan may not survive the winter. More than 90 percent of households in Afghanistan don’t get enough to eat every day – the highest percentage worldwide.

Gospel derails planned homicide in North Africa

North Africa (Christian Aid Mission/Mission Network News) A young man receiving vocational training in North Africa was depressed and angry – and carrying a lethal weapon.

Ahmed* was so heavy-hearted and sullen you could see it on his face the moment you looked at him, according to the leader of the local ministry offering the program.

He was intensely introverted. When he first came to the vocational training at the suggestion of a friend who had benefitted from it, Ahmed never spoke to anyone. In time he began to ask the trainers about their talk of God, His will, and His love for all people, the ministry leader said.

During a time set aside for a spiritual message at the training one night, Ahmed heard preaching on forgiveness that led to him revealing that he was carrying a weapon.
