She survived a death camp. Facing Biden DOJ charges, she is prepared to die in prison

(The Daily Signal) — Eva Edl turned 10 years old in a World War II-era death camp.

She believes she may die in a United States prison.

Charged by President Joe Biden’s Justice Department with violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, Edl faces up to 11 years in prison and $350,000 fines. She is about to turn 89 years old.

“When I was indicted, I began to prepare to die there,” she said thoughtfully in a phone interview with The Daily Signal. “Right now, I am ambivalent. … I’m doing the best I can to get ready. Haven’t talked to a funeral director yet.”

“I’m just being sensible,” she added. “There’s no guarantee that I survive it.”

Drawing on her brutal experiences with communism in what was then Yugoslavia, she refuses to underestimate those who have the power to oppress her, recalling how her mother couldn’t believe they were in danger until it was too late.

Donald Trump says he would not sign national abortion ban if reelected

(The Hill) — Former President Trump on Wednesday said he would not sign a national abortion ban if reelected and such a bill passed Congress. The Biden campaign quickly dismissed him as a “liar,” citing his record on the issue.

Trump was asked by reporters in Georgia if he would sign a national abortion ban if it reached his desk.

“No,” Trump responded, shaking his head.

Those comments came during the same interaction with reporters in which he called the overturning of Roe v. Wade an “incredible achievement” and stressed abortion policy should be determined by individual states, even as he criticized an Arizona law for going too far.

“Now the states have it, and the states are putting out what they want. It’s the will of the people,” he said. “So Florida’s probably going to change. Arizona is going to definitely change, everybody wants that to happen. And you’re getting the will of the people. It’s been pretty incredible when you think about it.”

US intelligence confirms Islamic State responsibility for Russia attack, official says

(NewsMax) — The United States has intelligence confirming Islamic State’s claim of responsibility for a deadly shooting at a concert near Moscow, a U.S. official said on Friday.

The official said the United States had warned Russia in recent weeks about the possibility of an attack.

“We did warn the Russians appropriately,” said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, without providing any additional details.

At least 60 people were killed and 145 wounded on Friday when camouflage-clad gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons on concertgoers near Moscow in one of the deadliest attacks on Russia in decades.

Islamic State, the militant group that once sought control over swathes of Iraq and Syria, claimed responsibility for the attack, the group’s Amaq agency said on Telegram.

John MacArthur walks back comments stating that ‘it’s not sinful for a cakemaker to make a cake for a gay wedding’

[embedded content]

John MacArthur, a prominent evangelical pastor and author, recently came under renewed scrutiny for his comments regarding the morality of making a wedding cake for a gay wedding, prompting a response from his ministry to clarify his beliefs on the subject. During a 2017 conference, MacArthur stated that it is not sinful for a baker to create a product for a same-sex wedding, drawing comparisons to serving food at a restaurant or selling bread at a market.

MacArthur, the pastor of the evangelical Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, and president of The Master’s University in Newhall and The Master’s Seminary in Los Angeles, participated in a panel discussion during Ligonier Ministries 2017 regional conference in Los Angeles on June 9.

During a question-and-answer session, MacArthur provided insight on two theological questions regarding homosexuality.

One question posed was whether it is “truly sinful” for a Christian business person to create a product for a same-sex wedding.

MacArthur addressed the question by stating, “No, it’s not sinful for a cake maker to make a cake for a gay wedding anymore than its sinful for a guy who runs a restaurant to serve dinner to somebody who is gay, sits in a booth and eats the food, or goes to the market and buys a loaf of bread and you own the market.” He emphasized, “What the issue is, is not whether that’s sinful. It’s whether the federal government can demand that people do certain things, which goes against their Christian conscience.”

He further explained that he believes this is “more of a political governmental issue” and emphasized the importance of showing love to all individuals, both inside and outside the kingdom. MacArthur added, “a gesture of kindness toward some unregenerate person is in itself not a sin.”

The renewed concern and clarification of MacArthur’s comments follow the controversy surrounding fellow pastor and author Alistair Begg, who was initially invited this past month to speak at MacArthur’s Shepherd’s Conference but later cancelled. Begg’s remarks suggesting that a woman should attend her grandson’s wedding to a transgender person and even buy a gift sparked much debate.

However, a recent video posted on the YouTube channel for iThink Biblically, which has over 89,000 subscribers, indicates a shift in MacArthur’s ministry’s response to the 2017 question, acknowledging that the answer he gave then was “incomplete”, and that if he was “given another opportunity to answer that question, he would strive to make the critical distinction as clear as possible,” according to the ministry statement by Phil Johnson and read in the video.

The video, shared by an individual who was contacted by evangelist Justin Peters criticized MacArthur’s original comments. The individual reached out to Phil Johnson of MacArthur’s ministry for clarification, which was subsequently provided to iThink Biblically.

In the video, the individual commended MacArthur for addressing any confusion and affirming that it is not appropriate for a Christian to participate in a same-sex wedding, such as by providing a wedding cake. The video suggests that MacArthur’s clarification aligns with traditional Christian teachings on marriage and homosexuality.

Donald Trump calls on Alabama to reverse course after state rules frozen embryos are ‘unborn children’

(USA Today) — ROCK HILL, S.C. – Facing attacks on the Republican Party’s opposition to abortion rights, former President Donald Trump called on Alabama lawmakers Friday to reverse a state Supreme Court decision that has nearly halted in vitro fertilization in that state.

“We want to make it easier for mothers and fathers to have babies, not harder!” Trump said on his Truth Social website, commenting on an Alabama Supreme Court decision that ruled frozen embryos are children.

Speaking a day before the South Carolina Republican primary, Trump said “that includes supporting the availability of fertility treatments like IVF in every state in America.”

Trump read his statement supporting IVF to supporters at a get-out-the-vote rally in Rock Hill, telling his South Carolina supporters that “I wanted you to know that.”

Alabama Supreme Court rules frozen embryos created during fertility are ‘children’ protected under state law

(FOX News) — The Alabama Supreme Court has ruled that frozen embryos created during fertility treatments can be considered children under state law.

The decision, issued in a pair of wrongful death cases brought by couples who had frozen embryos destroyed in an accident at a fertility clinic, brought a rush of warnings from advocates who said it would have sweeping implications for fertility treatments.

Justices, citing anti-abortion language in the Alabama Constitution, ruled Friday that an 1872 state law allowing parents to sue over the death of a minor child “applies to all unborn children, regardless of their location.”

“Unborn children are ‘children’ under the Act, without exception based on developmental stage, physical location, or any other ancillary characteristics,” Justice Jay Mitchell wrote in the majority ruling.

Capitol Police decline to press charges in case of duo who committed sodomy and filmed it in Senate room

(Fox News) — The U.S. Capitol Police announced Thursday they have declined to press charges following the filming of a “sex video that was recorded inside the Hart Senate Office Building on the morning of Wednesday, December 13.

“After consulting with federal and local prosecutors, as well as doing a comprehensive investigation and review of possible charges, it was determined that — despite a likely violation of Congressional policy — there is currently no evidence that a crime was committed,” the agency said in a statement to Fox News.

“Although the hearing room was not open to the public at the time, the Congressional staffer involved had access to the room. The two people of interest were not cooperative, nor were the elements of any of the possible crimes met,” Capitol Police continued.

Navy vet now charged with hate crime for smashing satanic statue in Iowa Capitol

(Des Moines Register) — A Mississippi man who admitted to destroying a statue of the pagan idol Baphomet at the Iowa Capitol has been charged with a hate crime.

The statue was part of a display organized by the Satanic Temple of Iowa under state rules allowing religious displays in the Iowa Capitol during the holidays. The installation drew strong criticism from state and national leaders, including Gov. Kim Reynolds and Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis. On Dec. 14, the centerpiece of the display, a figure depicting the horned deity Baphomet, was “destroyed beyond repair,” according to the Satanic Temple of Iowa.

Michael Cassidy, a former congressional candidate from Mississippi, was charged the following day with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. The Lauderdale, Mississippi, man told the conservative website The Sentinel that “My conscience is held captive to the word of God, not to bureaucratic decree. And so I acted.”

Peaceful ‘rescuers’ seeking to stop abortions found guilty by jury, face up to 11 years in prison

(Breitbart) — Six pro-life activists were found guilty on Tuesday for “conspiracy against rights” and violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) in relation to a peaceful protest outside of a Tennessee abortion facility in 2021.

President Joe Biden’s pro-abortion administration announced in October 2022 that it had charged 11 activists involved in the March 5, 2021, “blockade” of the Carafem Health Center Clinic in Mount Juliet. Attorneys for the activists said they were conducting a “rescue” and had gathered on the second floor of the office building where the clinic is located to pray, sing hymns, and urge women not to go through with abortions. The peaceful protest was also live-streamed on Facebook, according to the Catholic News Agency (CNA).

Six of the activists have now been found guilty of a misdemeanor FACE Act charge, as well as a felony conspiracy against rights charge, which carries with it the possibility of up to 11 years in prison and fines up to $250,000. They include: Chester Gallagher, 73, of Lebanon, Tennessee; Heather Idoni, 58, of Michigan; Calvin Zastrow, 57, of Michigan; Coleman Boyd, 51, of Bolton, Mississippi; Dennis Green, 56, of Cumberland, Virginia; and Paul Vaughn, 55, of Centerville, Tennessee.

Peaceful ‘rescuers’ seeking to stop abortions face federal prosecution, may receive up to 11 years in prison

Jury selection is set to commence this week in Nashville, Tennessee for six individuals in relationship to a “rescue” they took part in inside an abortion facility in Tennessee as they sought to save babies from being murdered at the hands of an abortionist. Some of the individuals charged in the federal case are potentially facing up to 11 years in federal prison.

On March 5, 2021, a group of “rescuers” entered the Carafem Health Center in Mount Juliet, Tennessee to dissuade women from going through with their scheduled abortions.

Originally, a total of 11 people were indicted. However, one of the defendants had their charges dropped and is expected to provide testimony against the remaining individuals. Out of the six facing trial, the possibility of them being sentenced to up to 11 years in prison looms, while the remaining four may be facing a maximum of one year behind bars.
