(The Christian Institute) Over 120 Anglican bishops have reaffirmed the denomination’s adherence to the Bible’s teaching on marriage and sexuality.

The Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA) urged bishops at the Lambeth Conference 2022 to reaffirm the Lambeth 1.10 resolution from 1998. The resolution “upholds faithfulness in marriage between a man and a woman in lifelong union,” rejecting “homosexual practice as incompatible with Scripture.”

By Sunday, 125 bishops, representing almost eight million Anglicans at the conference, had pledged to ensure their provinces abide by the statement.

Teenage girl warns of danger of transgender ‘treatments’

(The Christian Institute) A 17-year-old girl has shared her traumatic experience of “sex swap” hormones and surgery and why she subsequently “de-transitioned.”

Chloe Cole was given puberty-blocking drugs at the age of 14 before going on to cross-sex hormones and undergoing a double mastectomy when she was just 15.

Speaking at a public hearing in Florida, a visibly emotional Cole said the interventions have left her not knowing if she would be able to have a child.

(The Christian Institute) A female sixth form student has left school after being reportedly harassed for questioning transgender ideology.

The unnamed 18-year-old had told a visiting peer that she “respectfully disagreed” with the peer’s views on biological sex. The student claimed that after the debate she was confronted by up to 60 other pupils screaming at her, which caused her to collapse from breathing problems.

Teachers initially supported her, but after being accused of “transphobia” she was told to work in the library if she said anything “provocative.” After continued bullying, she left the school.

68-year-old charged with murder, attempted murder after killing 1, injuring 5 at California church

[embedded content]

LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. — A 68-year-old man has been charged with one count of murder and five counts of attempted murder after he opened fire at a California church on Sunday as the mainly elderly congregation had gathered for a banquet to honor a former pastor.

Authorities believe that David Chou, a Chinese immigrant who currently works as a security guard from Las Vegas, Nevada, had targeted Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods due to personal angst over political tensions between China and Taiwan. The church is largely comprised of Taiwanese immigrants.

During a press conference on Monday, Orange County Sheriff Donald Barnes explained that were it not for the quick action of church members, who tackled Chou and tied him with an extension cord, the tragedy could have been even worse. Barnes explained that police found “several bags within the facility [that] contained magazines with additional ammo [and] four Molotov cocktail-type incendiary devices that he had placed around the inside of the church.”

This is a breaking news story. Please check back for updates.

China Develops AI ‘Prosecutor’ That Can Charge Citizens With Crimes

(South China Morning Post via Yahoo! News) — China has developed an artificial intelligence capable of charging people with more than 97% accuracy, replacing prosecutors “to a certain extent,” according to its researchers.

How it works: The machine, built and tested by the Shanghai Pudong People’s Procuratorate — China’s largest district prosecution office — can file a charge based only on verbal description, according to the South China Morning Post. The program runs on a desktop computer.

Researchers “trained” the machine between 2015 and 2020 using over 17,000 cases. It can now charge a suspect based on 1,000 “traits” gathered from a human-documented description of a case.

At present, the machine can charge eight of the most common crimes in Shanghai. These include fraud, credit card fraud, theft, dangerous driving, intentional injury, obstructing official duties, running a gambling operation and “picking quarrels and provoking trouble.”

The machine works with another program called System 206, which reportedly evaluates evidence, conditions for an arrest, and the degree of danger a suspect poses to the public. It’s unclear how many jurisdictions are currently employing the tool.

The company is ready to pay £150,000 ($200,000) to anybody willing to transfer the rights to their face and voice forever.

‘Since 2019, we have been actively manufacturing and supplying humanoid robots to the market. Former Google CEO Says Facebook’s Metaverse is ‘Not Necessarily the Best Thing for Human Society’

(Business Insider) — Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt has joined the many voices weighing in on Facebook’s metaverse and expressing concern about the future of artificial intelligence.

Schmidt, who served as Google’s top executive from 2001 to 2011 and as executive chairman until his departure in May 2020, told The New York Times that while he believes the technology will soon “be everywhere,” he warned that it is “not necessarily the best thing for human society.”

“All of the people who talk about metaverses are talking about worlds that are more satisfying than the current world — you’re richer, more handsome, more beautiful, more powerful, faster,” Schmidt told The Times. “So, in some years, people will choose to spend more time with their goggles on in the metaverse. And who gets to set the rules? The world will become more digital than physical. And that’s not necessarily the best thing for human society.”
